8th Grade Information & Events

Grade 8 Updates

  • High school acceptances should be out by March, 2026.
  • The winter dance is January 23rd 3-5 PM. Permission slips will be distributed Tuesday, 1/20/26.
  • The senior breakfast and paint party will be in February. If you want to participate in the painting activity, $15 is due by Tuesday, 1/20/26. ALL 8th GRADE STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE BREAKFAST AT NO COST.
  • The Grade 8 trip to American Dream Mall is 5/18/26. Money will be collected on 2/12.
  • Submit your baby pictures to Mr. Lee for the yearbook. 

High School Admissions

2025 Admissions Timeline
  • Tuesday, October 7: High School Application, LaGuardia Application, and SHSAT Registration opens
  •  Friday, October 31: SHSAT registration closes 
  •  Wednesday, November 12: SHSAT School Day Administration
  •  Sat, November 15 and Sun, November 16: SHSAT Weekend Administration for 8th grader
  •  Wednesday, December 3: High School and LaGuardia applications close; deadline to submit additional materials (auditions and assessments) in MySchools. 

Promotional Criteria For Grade 8 Students

Promotional Criteria for Grade 8 Students:

  • Students must pass all four major subjects in order to be promoted to high school: ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. 
  • Attendance at the graduation ceremony is a privilege and earned through meeting promotional criteria and exhibiting good behavior.
  • Students may be prohibited from attending the graduation ceremony and other senior activities due to disciplinary issues, attendance, or lateness.

Criteria for attending senior activities are as follows:

  • Students must have Excellent (E) or Satisfactory (S) conduct each quarter.
  • Students must have academic success in subject areas.
  • Students with poor conduct and/or referrals are not permitted to attend.
